“Spinning” My Wheels At Gulfstream (12/29/19)

Dec 29th, 2019 | By | Category: gulfstream, Today's Picks

Fast and good for the Sunday card at Gulfstream with races 5, 7 and 9 off the turf.  Unfortunately, I loved horses in races 5 and 7, so the card is a lot less appealing now, but there still could be value, so let’s see if I can put yesterday’s horrible handicapping in the rear view mirror and rebound today!

In race 11, Spinning Kitten (#11) just may be better than these and he has won on local surface in debut — key in all late multi-race wagers and play an exacta box with #’s 2 and 5.

In race 3, Gufo (#5) rallied late  in debut and gets better post with Irad taking the call — key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 9 and 8.  Here’s the entire card and good luck!

Race 1: 8, 9 and 2

Race 2: 2, 4 and 1

Race 3: 5 (Best Bet) with 9 and 8

Race 4: 1, 4 and 7

Race 5: 1, 12 and 13

Race 6: 9, 1 and 6

Race 7: 1, 4 and 13

Race 8: 7, 1 and 3

Race 9: 4, 5 and 11

Race 10: 3, 2 and 6

Race 11: 11 (Best Bet) with 2 and 5

Going To “Temple” At Gulfstream (12/28/19)

Dec 28th, 2019 | By | Category: gulfstream, Today's Picks

Fast and good for the Saturday card with races 4, 6 and 11 off the turf.  Been having a pretty good meet here so far, so let’s see if I can continue that today.

In race 9, Temple (#6) should get a perfect stalking trip with Irad on board and has handled off turf before — key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 2 and 14.

In race 10, A.A, Azula’s Arch (#6) goes for profitable connections and best numbers have come on off turf — key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 7 and 2.  Here’s the entire card and good luck!

Race 1: 2, 8 and 4

Race 2: 7, 3 and 5

Race 3: 7, 3 and 6

Race 4: 2, 5 and 9

Race 5: 5, 9 and 1

Race 6: 13, 4 and 7

Race 7: 2, 5 and 8

Race 8: 9, 5 and 1

Race 9: 6 (Best Bet) with 2 and 13

Race 10: 6 (Best Bet) with 7 and 2

Race 11: 3 (Best Bet) with 7 and 1

“Down” Is Up At Aqueduct (12/28/19)

Dec 28th, 2019 | By | Category: Aqueduct, Today's Picks

Clear and fast for the Saturday card — even though I have been concentrating more on Gulfstream, this card is decent, so let’s see how I do today.

In race 7, Puttheglassdown (#7) gets a wicked pace to set up late run and should be 4-1 or so — key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 3 and 8.

In race 8, Gilda Marie (#2) ran great off the layoff and any improvement here will win this at a decent price — key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 3 and 11.  Here’s the entire card and good luck!

Race 1: 5, 2 and 7

Race 2: 5, 4 and 6

Race 3: 9, 8 and 1

Race 4: 4, 5 and 2

Race 5: 7, 1 and 5

Race 6: 7, 2 and 8

Race 7: 7 (Best Bet) with 3 and 8

Race 8: 2 (Best Bet) with 3 and 11

Race 9: 7, 6 and 5

A Decade Of Memories on Horsepicking.com (12/25/19)

Dec 26th, 2019 | By | Category: Today's Picks

To all my friends and family, I want to wish all a wonderful holiday season and a happy, healthy new year!  And to all my faithful readers, thank you for making this passion of mine  fun and exciting!  It’s a real labor of love and I couldn’t post for all those years without all of your support!  So let’s bring in the next decade with a look back at my top 9 memories from 2010 to 2019!

#1. In 2013, I listed top four finishers in the Kentucky Derby keying two on top and the rest underneath.  My strategy for using both Orb and Normandy Invasion on top made it easy to hit $2 exacta for $981.60, the $2 trifecta for $6925.60 and the $2 superfecta for $57,084!

#2. In October, 2018, I had two great days at Belmont!  On the 5th, I picked 5 winners on top (including two double digit best bets) and listed the $52,000 late pick 5 and the $197,922 pick 6.  In fact, if you keyed my best bets in races 7 and 8, you could have hit the pick 5 and pick 6 with only a $162 ticket!  On the 19th, I  listed 8 winners, 2 on top and if you bet running $2 doubles you won $500, if you bet running $2 pick 3′s, you won $3600 and if you bet the early pick four and 5 for .50, you won $9200!

#3.  On November 4th, 2011,  I was actually at Monmouth with a couple of friends (Marty & Brian) to watch the Breeders Cup at Churchill.   From races 5-11, I listed 6 winners, 2 on top (my Best Bets at $17.80 and $6.60 respectively) and listed 4 consecutive doubles and 3 consecutive pick 3?s (from $528 to $923).  Here’s the killer — I listed 5 out of 6 in the pick 6 which paid $95,000 for 5. It would have cost $322 if I singled my best bet in the turf sprint, used my top 2 choices in the classic (Drossylmyer won) and used my top 3 picks in the other races, but a guy can dream.  My friend Brian liked the 64-1 bomb in the Mile (Court Vision) so we really could have been the only ones to hit the whole thing (3 million) if we put our heads together.

#4. On July 7th, 2018,  I had an incredible day at Belmont listing all 11 winners, 6 on top culminating in listing the $30,000 pick 5 and the $74,155 pick 6.  Also, both best bets won in the sequence (Firenze Fire Diversify) and if you singled both with the 3 choices in the other 4 races (a $162 ticket), you hit the motherload!  Also listed 5 exacta boxes and 4 trifecta boxes which were also very profitable.

#5. From 2010 to 2019, I posted 50 best bets on the Breeders Cup races over that period.  I went 14 for 50 with an ROI of 2.60.  My headline best bets hit at 8/20 with a $2.80 ROI!

#6. From 2010 to 2019, I went 4 for 10 on the Breeders Cup Classic including Blame at $12.40, Fort Larned at $20.80, Mucho Macho Man at $10..00 and American Pharoah at $3.40.  A $4.66 ROI!

#7. In 2014, My headline on Kentucky Derby Day was “Throwing A Curve Ball on Kentucky Derby Day” which touted Commanding Curve as a must use in the race.  He came second and paid #31.80 for place and $15.40 for show and the exacta with California Chrome was $340!

#8. In 2014, in back to back cards, I had incredible days at Saratoga.  On 8/1, listed 9 winners in a row which led to a $2 pick 4 for $1,082 and $2 pick 5 for $11,380; on 8/2, Whitney Day, I picked 6 winners on top on the day (including 5 out of the first 6) and then my best bet in the Whitney (Moreno) won at $22.

#9. On November 1, 2019, I gave out 3 consecutive best bets on day 1 of the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita!  Four Wheel Drive won the Juvenile Turf Sprint, Structor won the Juvenile Turf and British Idiom won the Juvenile Fillies.  One day later, I added another best bet win, Blue Prize in the Distaff.  Overall, I went 4 for 7 on best bets over the 2 days and you almost tripled your investment!

You might be wondering why I only listed my top 9 memories.  I thought it would be great if I can post your biggest memories over the last decade so please send them to me and thanks again for all your support and encouragement!
