A “British” Invasion At The Breeders Cup (11/1/19)

Oct 29th, 2019 | By | Category: Breeders Cup, Today's Picks

Looks like fast and firm for day 1 of the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita — I am posting early because I will be traveling and wanted to handicap early.  Please keep track of any track bias by watching Thursday’s card closely, but a speed favoring dirt track and a fair turf course seem to be a distinct possibility given what we already know and local horses may have an advantage to shippers because not all horses like the Santa Anita surface.  Have a feeling the Euros won’t be a big factor, but I have been wrong before, so let’s see how I do.

In race 7, The Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies, British Idiom (#4) is trained by the next big thing in racing, Brad Cox, who got his first BC win last year with Monomoy Girl, and is live with several mounts here, including this filly who stalked and demolished a quality field in the Grade 1 Alcibiades and should get a very contested pace to set up a perfect trip right behind leaders — key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 6 and 1.

In race 5, The Grade 2 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf, Four Wheel Drive (#9) has done nothing wrong in 2 starts for the best 2-year old turf sprint trainer in the country and may be a special one — take 2-1 in a big field and be happy!  Key in all doubles and pick 3′s and play an exacta box with #’s 10 and 7.  Here’s the entire card and good luck!
