It’s the halfway mark at The Spa and like most handicappers, having winners on top during the most competitive meet in the country can be difficult.  In fact, in the 14 cards I’ve handicapped since opening day, I’m only 30/142 (21% with an ROI of $1.60).  But like previous years handicapping at Saratoga, there have been some profitable bets.

For example, I’ve listed 82 races with 3 selections and have hit the exacta box 26 times — that’s a whopping 32% and the ROI is a healthy $2.83. My best bets are also profitable — I’ve gone 9/33, a 27% clip and a $2.12 ROI.

So my advice for the second half of the meet is continue to make exacta boxes when I list 3 horses and double up on my best bets.  Let’s see how I do over the remaining weeks and good luck!
