Fast and firm on Florida Derby day at Gulfstream.  Last Sunday, I listed the final pick 4, including 3 on top, for a $2800 payoff.  I will try and keep the momentum going today!

In race 9, The Grade 3 Appleton, Storm Play (#6) has never raced on turf, but is well bred, has back class and his speed makes him very dangerous to take these all the way at 7 1/2 furlongs.  I’m keying in all doubles, pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with Carson Hall (#4) and Rahy’s Attorney (#7).

In race 3, Saint Elligius (#3) is the best bet of the day at a short price to take these from close range at 1 mile on the turf.  I’m keying in all doubles and pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with Colizeo (#7). Fast and good as we are back on the turf in a competitive card at Gulfstream.  Listed 7 winners, 3 on top on Saturday’s card and had a great streak in the middle of the card which led to several doubles and pick 3′s — including one over $400!  I will try to pick more winners on top today!

In race 6, Pinkarella (#2) comes off a huge win on this surface and may be one of those horses who becomes a monster on conventional dirt.  I’m keying in all doubles and pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with Kays and Jays (#10) who figures to lead these from the start.

In race 5, Keep It a Secret (#1) goes turf to dirt and may show more speed in a fairly paceless race.  I’m keying in all doubles and pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with Touching Beauty (#6) and Electric Gold (#10).  Here’s the entire card and good luck!

Sloppy and dreary after a windblown storm came down in NY and forced cancellation of the Saturday card at Aqueduct.  Unfortunately, the Sunday card at Aqueduct looks like a tornado hit with small fields and little betting value.  I’m sticking with Gulfstream!

In race 3, Tranquil Manner (#5) can take advantage of a fast pace and likes it wet — can run down the leaders late if the track is playing fairly.  I’m keying in all doubles and pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with African Diamond (#3).

Good main track with no turf racing at Gulfstream after a monsoon cancelled racing after race 4 on Friday’s card.  In race 10, The Gulfstream Park Handicap, Motovato (#4) had a nightmare trip against Munnings in last stake effort and almost got up — one mile suits perfectly and will get a fast pace to run at.  I’m keying in the late double and pick 3 and playing an exacta box with This Ones for Phil (#11) and Cool Coal Man (#9).
