Life Is A “Cabaret” In The Slop At Belmont (9/27)

Sep 27th, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Today's Picks

Raining and sloppy with no turf at Belmont on Sunday.  However, despite some scratches, the races are competitive and there is money to be made.  Hope to do better than I did on Saturday’s difficult card where I listed only 4 winners, two on top and my exacta boxes just failed to deliver.

In race 3, The Commemorate, Cabaret Cowboy (#4) drops into an easier spot from his last grade 2 and loves an off track. I’m keying in all my doubles and pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with Ju Jitsu Jax (#5).

In race 10, Al’s Deputy (#14) towers over these on paper and should win easily in this off the turf sprint.  I’m keying him in all doubles and pick 3′s and playing an exacta box with Papa Jerry (#10)  Here’s the entire card and good luck!

Race 1: 6 and 3

Race 2: 4 and 1

Race 3: 4 (Best Bet) and 5

Race 4: 6 and 5

Race 5: 10 and 11

Race 6: 10, 11 and 4X

Race 7: 5 and 2

Race 8: 6 and 1A

Race 9: 4 and 5

Race 10: 14 and 10

Nothing Is “Best” At Belmont (9/26)

Sep 26th, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Today's Picks

Fast and firm at Belmont and the Saturday card is competitive and very difficult to handicap!  Given the toughness of the card and the fact that my best bets have not done well, I am not having any best bets today.  Maybe that will mean more winners!  Good luck and here’s the entire card.

Race 1: 10 with 9 and 6

Race 2: 6 with 9 and 8

Race 3: 5

Race 4: 10 with 9 and 7

Race 5: 1 and 7

Race 6: 5 with 3 and 4

Race 7: 12, 8 and 3

Race 8: 6 with 2 and 10

Race 9: 3 and 2

Race 10: 10, 4 and 9

Trying To Stay “Awake” At Belmont (9/25)

Sep 25th, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Today's Picks

Fast and firm at Belmont today with a competitive card on tap.  In race 9, Wild Awake (#5) towers over these on paper and gets Dominguez to ride — no value but key in all doubles and pick 3′s.

In race 6, a wide open turf sprint, Gold Pageantry (#9) cuts back from a 1 3/8 marathon to 6 furlongs and should be coming late in a race filled with speed.  I’m boxing him in exactas with Indian Ashton(#5) and Of All Times (#7) and using all in pick 3′s and doubles.  Here’s the entire card and good luck!

Race 1: 8 and 7

Race 2: 6 and 1A

Race 3: 5 and 1

Race 4: 6 with 4 and 2

Race 5: 2 and 6

Race 6: 9 (Best Bet) with 5 and 7

Race 7: 5 with 3 and 6

Race 8: 5, 8 and 1

Race 9: 5 (Best Bet)

Belmont Recap — Changing My Betting Strategy (9/20)

Sep 21st, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Today's Picks

I’ve been analyzing my picks at Belmont over the last several cards and it seems obvious we are not in Saratoga anymore.  My winning percentage is much higher, but my doubles, pick 3′s and exacta boxes are doing ok but not like The Spa.

Sunday was a perfect example.  Listed 5 winners, only two on top, but had a 5-1 shot and and 5-2 shot which gave me a flat bet profit of $1.20 on the day.  Listed a nice $41 double in races 3 and 4 and a small double in races 6 and 7, but couldn’t string three together to collect on a pick 3.  Only hit one exacta box out of 5, which was also a losing proposition.  Let’s see how it goes next weekend when I’m back!  Have a good week!
