Day 8 At Saratoga – Trying To “Master” The Speed Play (8/6)
Aug 6th, 2009 | By mircon1 | Category: Saratoga, Today’s PicksFast and firm today at The Spa and drier conditions could mean that speed horses could be more dangerous on both the main track and the turf!
In race 3, a $75,000 optional claimer with some talented horses, Spin Master (#1) last raced at Saratoga two years ago in the Kings Bishop. Has some back class and could sit just off a reasonable pace set by Garifine (#2) and get the first jump on the closers. I’m keying him with Mister Triester (#5) and Past The Point (#7) in exactas and playing some doubles and pick 3’s.
Keeping with the speed play angle, in race 6, a competitive claimer on the turf, Ballast (#1) could have an easy lead and hold off the closers. I’m keying him in exactas with Adagio (#3) and Big Stick (#8) and playing him in doubles and pick 3’s. Not handicapping the first race jumper so here’s the remainder of the card and good luck!
