Week 2 at the Spa and the dragon was ready for me.  Had a nice day off on Tuesday and wanted to get off to a fast start.  But in the first 3 races, I handicapped like someone had given me a hot foot.  My picks finished all over the place – none near the winner’s circle.

But in race 4, things got significantly hotter, but in a good way.  Had the winner and hit the cold exacta for $29.60.  In race 5, one of my best bets lost, but my second and third choices filled the exacta — a nice $108 payoff!  In race 6, had the favorite at a short price and hit my first pick 3.  My best bet in race 7, Easy Ashley, wired the field and beat the favorite — another pick 3 and my third winner on the card!  Cocoa Beach just got up in race 8 at a short price and I was very alive with 3 horses in race 9.  Dare I dream the pick 6.  Alas, there was a late scratch at the gate, a speed horse that may have changed the complexion of the race and Sammarco (#5) wired them in fast time to douse the winning streak.  No pick 6 today but the dragon got a little nervous!

By the way, as the turf courses dry out, the speed horses will do better.  Speed was great in the turf sprints on Wednesday so keep that in mind with Thursday’s card!
