Day 28 (Travers Day) Recap At Saratoga — Not A Complete Washout (8/29)
Aug 30th, 2009 | By mircon1 | Category: Saratoga, Today’s PicksSo Travers day has come and gone and Mother Nature tried to rain on our parade and only managed to knock a few races off the turf. The fields were still competitive and it was a good day to try and make some money when all was said and done.
So my buddy Scott Rothbort and I decided just to play my most profitable bet at the meeting and bet $5 exacta boxes in all races where I listed 3 horses. It was a disaster and we lost every bet — $150 in all. So why wasn’t Travers Day a complete washout? Well, if you played my other profitable bets ($1 doubles and $1 pick 3’s) on all races, along with the exacta boxes, you made a few dollars. I listed 7 winners, only two on top, and got hot in races 5, 6 and 7 (including a $142 double and $493 pick 3), so you made enough gains overall on both those bets to overcome the exacta losses. I hope you stuck to the plan and made some money.
