Day 21 At Saratoga — What’s Up “Doc” (8/21)

Aug 21st, 2009 | By mircon1 | Category: Saratoga, Today’s Picks

Fast and firm at Saratoga, but there is a chance of thunderstorms so keep your eye to the sky!  As usual, I’m handicapping assuming all races remain on the turf.

In race 5, Doc N Roll (#6) has won a race over the turf course and can stalk and finish — use him in exactas with Of All Tiimes (#4) and Jamaludin (#9) and in doubles and pick 3’s.  Here’s entire card and good luck!

Race 1: 2 and 3

Race 2: 6 and 1

Race 3: 2 and 5

Race 4: 2, 1 and 8

Race 5: 6 Best Bet) with 4 and 9

Race 6: 10, 5 and 4

Race 7: 7 (Best Bet) with 3 and 8

Race 8: 4 and 3

Race 9: 8 with 7 and 1

Day 20 Recap At Saratoga — How I “Deep-Sixed” The Dragon (8/20)

Aug 21st, 2009 | By mircon1 | Category: Saratoga, Today’s Picks

Today, I actually feel like the best handicapper in America…in my own mind!  But I know the dragon is not dead — it has more lives than a cat and a talent for giving handicappers a false sense of security. That said, it was a great day, and from races 4-9, I had a streak that would make the professionals take notice and lead to my first pick 6!  Here’s some highlights:

* Listed 6 winners, 3 on top, with a $10.20 return on investment

* Listed 6 doubles, ranging from $13 to $57

* Listed 5 pick 3’s ranging from $59 to $162

* Listed 5 exacta boxes and 2 trifecta boxes

* Listed the pick 4 (races 7-10) for $365

* Listed the pick 6 for $3287

* Collected on both my best bet exactas

I was actually alive with 3 horses in the pick 6 and the lowest payoff won, but my second choice finished a close second and would have paid over $8,000.  A handicapper can dream, but is always one day, one race away from a nightmare.  Trying to get my beauty sleep before Friday’s card!
