A Lightbulb Goes Off At Churchill (6/21)

Jun 21st, 2009 | By | Category: Churchill, Today's Picks

You know it’s not a great racing card when you focus on a $7500 non winners of 3 claiming race.  In the 2nd race at Churchill, Zigawatt (#6) seems a likely winner at a decent price.  This son of Gulch, will get a nice stalking trip behind the speeds and also gets a nice jockey switch to Mena.  I’m keying in doubles and pick 3′s.  Here’s the card and good luck.

Race 1: 4 with 2 and 10

Race 2: 6 (Best Bet)

Race 3: 6 with 2 and 5

Race 4: 4 and 3

Race 5: 1 and 3

Race 6: 3 and 2

Race 7: 6 (Best Bet) and 5

Race 8: 8 with 1 and 2

Race 9: 4 and 5

Race 10: 1 and 6

One Shining Moment On A Dark & Dreary Handicapping Day (6/20)

Jun 21st, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Churchill

Another day where I failed to live up to my “handicapping hype.”  All my best bets lost, including Hype, who had a nightmare trip in the 10th race at Churchill.  But through the dark, dreary rain and races taken off the turf, one shining moment at Belmont.  In the 6th race, a 2-1 winner with a 28-1 shot running second  gave me a cold exacta!  Came back a paltry $78.  Don’t you just love horse racing!

Stay with me and see my picks for today at 12:30pm.

Dress Rehearsal Scratched At Belmont

Jun 20th, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Today's Picks

Great analysis, but now the horse doesn’t show up.  Oh well, use Backseat Rhythm (#5) in today’s 9th at Belmont.  See my previous analysis.  Good luck!

Not Just A “Dress Rehearsal” At Belmont 6/20)

Jun 20th, 2009 | By | Category: Belmont, Today's Picks

If the Grade 2 New York (Race #9) stays on the turf at Belmont, Dress Rehearsal (#4) will give her best performance when it counts!  This Irish Bred filly, trained by Bill Mott, loves soft turf and will get a contested pace to run at chasing Criticism (#3) and Dynaforce (#6).  Key her in exactas with Backseat Rhythm (#5) and single in doubles and pick 3′s.

In race 8, a state bred allowance, I have a very positive response to Early Response (#7),  my pick to run down William Thomas (#5), who faces pace pressure and may wilt in the final furlong.  Here’s the entire card, and remember all the races are off the turf except the 9th so play accordingly!  Good luck!

Race 2: 2 and 7

Race 3: 6 with 1A and 2

Race 4: 2 and 1
