The biggest day of the Belmont meet is tomorrow and for a handicapper, the challenge I pose is can you weather the storm! Today is a monsoon at Belmont so we are sloppy and off the turf except for races 8&9 (that may change). Let’s see if I can give you a few winners in the big races and please come back for my complete Belmont Day analysis which will be posted by 10am on Saturday.
The big race today is the Grade 2 Brooklyn Handicap (Race #10). Given the track conditions and the hot pace scenario (Delosvientos, Nite Light & Fierce Wind), I like a closer. Rising Moon (#9) loves the slop and will be closing from 5 lengths off the pace. I will use him and Alcomo (#7) on top in my exactas, doubles and pick 3’s. I will also use them in my Belmont doubles with Charitable Man (#6) and Summer Bird (#4).
In the 8th race, the Glowing Honor, a turf sprint for fillies and mares, I like Jazzy (#6) to rebound from a poor effort at Keeneland to run down the leaders today. I’ll use her with Lucky Copy (#5) who will be on the lead and the likely favorite. In the 9th race, The Hill Prince, it’s an open race, but I will use both Conservative (#8) and Rendezvous (#3) in my doubles and pick 3’s. Good luck!
