Rachel Alexandra Vulnerable in the Kentucky Oaks

Apr 30th, 2009 | By | Category: Churchill

How can I pick against a horse who shares the name of  my daughter (Alexandra)?  When the horse is a big favorite (3-5) and flow of the race does not favor her running style!

Rachel Alexandra will be the big favorite in the Kentucky Oaks on Friday, but she likes to run on the lead and will have some fast company to challenge her early.  Look for Gabby’s Golden Gal and maybe Flying Spur to be up close with the favorite and set the race up for a closer.  Just Whistle Dixie fits the bill and will be the second choice.  I’m betting her to win and in exactas with Flying Spur and Rachel Alexandra.

Good luck!

The Kentucky Derby is a Paceless Race — Bet Accordingly!

Apr 30th, 2009 | By | Category: Triple Crown

Given the recent defection of Quality Road and the early defection of The Pamplemousse, this year’s Kentucky Derby will have a moderate pace and the winner will have to be within five lengths of the lead early on to have a chance!

Both Join In The Dance and Regal Ransom figure to make the pace, which will be soft (47 and change) with Friesan Fire and I Want Revenge in a group not far behind the leaders.  I give Friesan Fire the slight edge to run the leaders down with I Want Revenge close behind.   I’m using both of them on top with Papa Clem, Chocolate Candy, Pioneer of the Nile and Dunkirk underneath in exactas and triples.

Good luck!
